Classically Black Art Salon

For our second day of Classically Black Celebrations, we will be hosting third Classically Black Arts Salon will be on February 23rd.

Our featured performers are Joel Thompson, Houston Grand Opera’s first full time Composer-in-Residence, & Soprano Renee Richardson. During the salon, you will immerse yourself in black art work curated by ART IS BOND, while experiencing premium black owned wine & spirits as well as passed appetizers by Chefs Matthew Raiford & Josh Lee of Georgia.

The exhibition features a blend of contemporary artworks, encompassing elements of abstraction, typography, and beyond. Each piece offers profound depth, inviting viewers to explore, dream, and immerse themselves in various facets of intimacy and love. Through visual engagement, the artworks open pathways to a diverse spectrum of interpretations, offering viewers an expansive exploration of the human experience.

A Classically Black Dinner- A Celebration of Black Agrarianism

To begin our two day celebration during Black History month, we are hosting a dinner starring two powerhouse Chefs from Georgia, Matthew Raiford & Joshua Lee. Together, they will create a 4 course meal for our guests that celebrates their Georgia roots, North African influence, & their classical training all while highlighting Black Texas Farmers.

This evening promises to be an intimate cultural explosion that celebrates black agrarianism & artistry at the dinner table. Paired with live music & black owned wine & spirits.. we can’t wait to welcome you to our dinner table!

A Classically Black Dinner-Art Is BOND

Join us for an intimate 4 course dinner, live Jazz & Art, celebrating Black Fine Art Month (BFAM). We will join Chef Ashley James & Chef Anamaris Cousins for a delightful family dinner including black owned wine. While we swoon over a beautiful table scape, Ki’ora Michelle will serenade us & tours of ART IS BOND’s anniversary exhibition will be available.

ART IS BOND. is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking new group exhibition, Golden Ratio: Mapping Self, Space, and Other, poised to captivate the art world with its profound exploration of interconnectedness and creativity. The exhibition is set to debut on the very date that marked the inauguration of the gallery in 2022, serving as both a remarkable anniversary celebration and a nod to the gallery's core ethos of presenting an amalgamation of artistic voices in a harmonious collective showcase.
 
Golden Ratio: Mapping Self, Space, and Other stands as a dynamic testament to the fusion of figurative and abstract art, delving deep into the intricate ties that bind self, surroundings, and the enigmatic mysteries beyond. Through introspective portraiture and vibrant abstract compositions, the exhibition invites visitors to contemplate the nature of identity and the expansiveness of both internal introspection and the world that surrounds us. Engaging interactive installations beckon active participation, while the meticulously curated arrangement adheres to the golden ratio, seamlessly weaving diverse perspectives into a mesmerizing tapestry of intellectually stimulating artwork.

Spanning a spectrum from locally renowned Houston artists to fresh international talents making their debut in the United States, the featured artists promise a harmonious blend of diversity and engagement. The exhibition is slated to grace our gallery from September 8th to November 11th, inviting patrons and enthusiasts to immerse themselves in this exquisite showcase of creativity and insight.

We are excited to host our first Classically Black Concert at The Steinway Selection Center. Join us for an evening with Melvin Johnson & the Electro-Akoustic band. The quartet will lead us through an evening of jazz showcasing Melvin’s debut Album “Little Red Wagon” along with a few classics. They will be joined by special guest, vocalist Just Mizz.

Classically Black Arts Salon

On April 21st , we present a Classically Black Salon featuring classical artists across several mediums. Headlining the event is Phillip Bullock, a dynamic Baritone & Houston Grand Opera’s own Renee Richardson. Their operatic stylings will be accompanied by Houston-based classical violinist Raniel Joubert & American pianist Kevin Miller. Rounding out the immersive experience will be work by photographer Emile C. Browne, visual artist Leamon Green and food by Michelin-trained Chef Ashley James prepared in a Afro-European American style that is quintessentially “Classically Black.”

Classically Black Arts Salon- November 20th

On November 20th, we presented our first Classically Black Arts Salon featuring classical artists across several different mediums. Headlining the event is the internationally acclaimed classical vocal group Vox Fortutra. Their classical and soul fusion stylings will be accompanied by Houston-based classical violinist Raniel Joubert. Rounding out the immersive experience will be work by visual artist Delita Martin, and food by Michelin-trained Chef Ashley James prepared in a Afro-European American style that is quintessentially “Classically Black.”
